Michele Obama tells the Democratic National Convention how the future President used take her on dates in a junker car with its floor rusted out.

A jacketless Milt Romney, shirtsleeves rolled halfway up each arm, chats with a group of factory workers.

Simple moments, says Fordham University Political Science assistant professor Costas Panagopoulos, but meticulously planned to deliver the desired effect.

"These days, politicians don't say very much by accident," Panagopoulos said. "Usually when they do say something by accident it is because they are screwing up.
